A biography is a written account of the series of events that make up a person's life. Children use biographical; writing to chronicle events in their own and other people’s lives to reflect on experiences, and to draw generalizations about life (Tomkins, 2008). It is to explain someone’s record or history. History adds value to life, it is the first step and definite path to solving present and future challenges that could arise, a person with history is definable meaning he or she can be recognized, acknowledge, and easily accepted, history provide a stepping stone for future growth and success, it is a fit for the wise and matured “at heart” a foolish person never care to take stock of his or her life that is why they are predominantly drifters, easily influenced, double minded, and non-achievers (Randolph, 2004) . There are several methods that teacher let students approach through a variety of skills such as personal Narratives, Autobiographies and original biography. Thus, Teachers should prepare students to write biographies by teaching them about the organization of information in biographies and by sharing trade-book versions of biographies 9Tomkins, 2008)
Response: Sunmi noted that “Biography writing not only requires the students to illuminates the social context of person’s life, but also provides room for personal reflections to be told”. It is a really good point for students to start writing biography in advance. I agree her opinion. She also mentioned being reflective and having differentiated ideas and perspectives is a key to creative writing.
