Every student feels burden to write and as an English instructor, I am considering how I can best teach for EFL students how to write. To teach writing effectively, it is important to include process such as five-stage prewriting, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing. It is said that the writing process is a way of looking at writing instruction in which the emphasis is shifted from children’s finished products to what they think and do as they write (Tompkins, 2006). In addition, support children in the way teachers teaching writing by using modeled writing, shared writing, interactive writing, guided writing, and independent writing. And to conclude, students develop fluency in writing, which can best be promoted through the multiple stages of a process writing approach (Brown, 2001) and through teacher’s scaffolding or supporting.
Response: KyoungChun reported the comment by Ambro (2010) that "If a teacher knows some of the characteristics of educational facilitators, he or she can help students own the learning process by developing a good rapport and providing a positive role model who learns empowering students to explore more about the subject at hand.” I agree with it. To become more comfortable with the writing process approach, teacher should become a guide or a facilitator.
